David Taggart has named his rolling jockey seeds.
The former star jockey will rank five riders on a weekly basis and update his list as the spring goes on.
With the Melbourne and Sydney spring carnival in full swing, Taggart has run his eyes over the jockey ranks and has ranked his top five seeds.
5. Blake Shinn
“Shinn is slipping right down the order because he’s been suspended but he fell away before his suspension,” Taggart told SENTrack.
4. Damian Lane
“Damian Lane moves into the seeds, he rode Via Sistina to victory in the Turnbull and he’s been riding winner after winner.”
3. Mark Zahra
“I had him at number two a fortnight ago but he goes to number three.”
2. Zac Lloyd
“The young apprentice goes to number two on my seeds, he ran second on Zardozi in a Group 1 race, he won a Group 1 on the weekend aboard Lady Shenandoah in the Epsom and then he won a Group 2 on Airman in the Premiere.
“The week before that he won a Group 2 on Makarena and a Listed race on Perspiration. He’s a young gun.”
1. James McDonald
“J-Mac stays at the top.”
