Looking to win an elusive Group 1 with My Gladiola, trainer John McArdle has strong plans for his star sprinter ahead of the spring.

Whilst not achieving the ultimate success, My Gladiola has had strong form in Group 1 racing across her career.

She finished second to Tentyris in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington last spring, and second again in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes in February this year.

McArdle has provided an update on his premiere sprinter and outlined the spring plans for her upcoming four-year-old prep.

“She had a jump out on the Polytrack on a Tuesday at Pakenham. Obviously we never let her head go, but she won the trial under a throttle hold, she’s pulled up really well,” McArdle said SEN's Giddy Up.

“So, at this stage she’ll be trialling at either Mornington or Sandown wherever they have them on the 26th (August), and she’ll run in the Moir first up.”

The star sprinter is currently priced at $11 with Sportsbet for the Moir Stakes at Sandown on September 5.

Away from its traditional track due to the Moonee Valley redevelopments, this edition of the race is set to be unparalleled.

Additionally, McArdle has one runner stepping out this weekend, Myhro’s Ruler lining up in the Group 3 Vain Stakes. The three-year-old will be looking to turn the tables on highly touted rivals Closer To Free and Hard Kick.

Myhro’s Ruler is currently a $9 chance with Sportsbet for Saturday’s feature.

On Stable Mail with Miles Pfitzner, McArdle opted to put his $100 straight on the win.
