Peter Anthonisz has provided his best bets for Caulfield on Saturday.
See Pete's Game Plan below:
Caulfield: Rail true, S7 likely the best result without much wind the next few days. Overcast, light winds.
Overall: Imagine they work away from the inside, just how early they (over)react is the question. Lanes 5+ in the straight most likely the zone.
Golden Switches:
R1#3 Naval Academy
R3#7 Mystery 'n' Drama
R6#15 Santa Barbara (reverse)
R9#2 Just Folk, #12 Somewhere
R4 #2 DUCHESS ZOU - Continues to run well this mare and gets a great setup for Jabez to go well again. 42 days off, but had the jumpout (Shinn strangled late), maps super vs a number of these with queries and handles all conditions. Great price.
R7 #1 PRIVATE EYE - Evergreen gelding who won this race last year and while this event is tougher the speed map looks ideal for Nash to do Nash things. Was good late in a 900m trial suggesting he's bang on track, and his form is as good or better than everything else here.
R3#1 SILENT SHARES
R3#7 MYSTERY 'N' DRAMA - Will sum up race 3 with two selections at odds. SILENT SHARES was a big flashing light vs the pattern at Flemington and while she'll be worse than midfield at best, if she gets gaps at the right time (or can hold a three-wide position with momentum) she's got a superior turn-of-foot in what looks a muddling race otherwise. Want something on MYSTERY 'N' DRAMA too - sneaky good late splits first-up when drawn wide and went back. Can settle on-pace with the only other speed Missapprehend and looks a big price.
R6 Quezette Stakes for the 3yo fillies, with #5 NATURAL FLING taking on the unbeaten Kiwi in #1 LARA ANTIPOVA and some other well regarded fillies in Riverina Lulu, Portinari, Ghana's Akan, Scintillation amongst others. I think the market has framed it about right at the moment, but we'll see what happens late...
Could almost nominate the entire field in R8, The Evergreen Turf Regal Roller Stakes over 1200m... is Recommendation capable of winning with Shinn back for the first time since 2024 or will he just run another solid race? Which McGaw will turn up? How well is Arkansaw Kid going? Is the Zou Sensation of last prep gone? Recon, Warnie, Ndola and Persian Spirit all have claims if the right version turns up...Shadhavar the consistency of late could lead them and Asakura the X-factor, but it's a tough quaddie leg!
R1 Catanach's Jewellers MRC150 Partner over 1100m to start the day, looks a deep race with a potentially messy speed map despite the big field. Plenty have figures to be competitive!
R6: 1-5/15
R7: 1-2-7
R8: 1-5-6-7-9-10/2-3-11
R9: 2-3-8-12-13/4-10
Taking doubles and the treble
R3#1 SILENT SHARES
R4#2 DUCHESS ZOU
R7#1 PRIVATE EYE
