The Sydney Sirens will bring Super Netball to the City of Wollongong in 2027, with the club set to host a home game at the WIN Entertainment Centre as part of its commitment to growing the game across New South Wales.

The Sirens will take to the court at the iconic venue - home of the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League - giving netball fans across the Illawarra and surrounding regions the opportunity to experience elite netball on their doorstep.

The announcement also marks an exciting step in the Sirens' ambition to build a lasting relationship with the City of Wollongong, creating opportunities to connect with local communities and inspire the next generation of netballers.

CEO of SEN Teams - which holds the Sirens license - Richard Simkiss, said bringing a Sirens home game to Wollongong was an important part of the club's vision.

"We've always said we want the Sydney Sirens to be a club for all of NSW, and bringing Super Netball to Wollongong is a really important step in delivering on that commitment," Simkiss said.

"The WIN Entertainment Centre is a fantastic venue with a great history of hosting elite sport, and we're excited to bring our players and our match day experience to the Illawarra.

"This is about much more than one game. We see enormous potential to build a strong and lasting connection with Wollongong and the broader region, and we're looking forward to what we hope will be a long and successful relationship."

Lord Mayor of Wollongong, Councillor Tania Brown, welcomed the announcement.

"Wollongong has a proud sporting culture, and we're delighted to welcome the Sydney Sirens and Super Netball to our city," Cr Brown said.

"Hosting elite women's sport is a fantastic opportunity for our community, particularly for the many young girls and boys who play netball across the Illawarra each weekend and who have the chance to see some of Australia's best athletes compete right here in Wollongong.

"We know in 2025 the city got behind the Diamonds when they played South Africa’s SPAR Proteas at the WIN Entertainment Centre. I have no doubt our netball-loving community will welcome the Sirens, their supporters and look to build a strong relationship with the club into the future."

For Sirens midcourter Hope White - who grew up in Newcastle and progressed through the regional netball pathway - the opportunity to bring elite netball to regional NSW holds special significance.

"Growing up in regional NSW, I know how much it means to young netballers in regional areas to have the opportunity to see their role models play live," White said.

"When you're a kid playing netball, seeing the best players in the country up close is so inspiring. It shows you what's possible and gives you something to aspire to.

"I'm really excited that we're bringing a Sirens game to Wollongong, and hopefully we can inspire lots of young netballers across the region to keep chasing their dreams."

The Sydney Sirens' Wollongong home game will form part of the club's 2027 Super Netball season, with the full fixture to be unveiled by tomorrow.
