The countdown to history is officially underway for the Sydney Sirens, with Netball Australia today unveiling the 2027 Super Netball fixture ahead of the club’s highly anticipated debut season.
The Sirens will create history on Sunday 11 April when they host reigning Premiers, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, at the Quaycentre, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for elite netball in New South Wales.
The historic opening match will be the first of five home games at the Quaycentre, which will serve as the club's primary home venue, bringing fans closer to the action in an intimate setting renowned for its rich netball history and electric atmosphere.
A major highlight of the inaugural season will be the Sirens' Round 13 home Derby against the NSW Swifts at Ken Rosewall Arena, with the club looking to attract a huge crowd for what promises to be a blockbuster clash between Sydney's two Super Netball teams.
The Sirens will also take elite netball to regional NSW, hosting their Round 7 home game against fellow SEN Teams-owned team, the Melbourne Mavericks, at Wollongong's WIN Entertainment Centre, as part of the club's commitment to building a passionate supporter base right across the state. In this game, fan favourite, Molly Jovic, will face her old team in the Mavs for the first time.
CEO of SEN Teams – which holds the Sirens licence – Richard Simkiss said the release of the fixture was another significant milestone for the club.
"The fixture release makes everything feel very real, and it's incredibly exciting to see our inaugural season taking shape," Simkiss said.
"To open our history against the reigning premiers at the Quaycentre is a fantastic occasion, and we can't wait to see our players run out in front of our members and supporters for the very first time.
"We're also really looking forward to our home Derby against the Swifts at Ken Rosewall Arena in Round 13. There's an exciting new rivalry developing between the two Sydney clubs, and we want to see a huge crowd there to be part of what promises to be a fantastic occasion.
"We've always said we want the Sydney Sirens to be a club for all of NSW, and our fixture really reflects that ambition. From the Quaycentre to Ken Rosewall Arena and Wollongong, we're focused on giving fans across the state the opportunity to be part of this journey."
Following their historic opening match, the Sirens will travel to Melbourne in Round 2 to take on 2026 Grand Finalists the Melbourne Vixens, before returning home to face the Queensland Firebirds in Round 3.
The Sirens will meet the NSW Swifts for the first time in Round 6, with former Swifts Grace Whyte and Teigan O'Shannassy set to face their former club in what will be the first chapter of an exciting new crosstown rivalry.
The highly anticipated Round 13 home Derby against the Swifts will be one of the final home fixtures of the regular season, before the Sirens travel to Melbourne to face the Mavericks in Round 14.
Simkiss said there was plenty for fans to look forward to as the club prepared to make its mark on the competition.
"There are so many firsts ahead of us – our first game, our first home win, our first Sydney Derby and the chance to establish some exciting new rivalries," Simkiss continued.
"We're building a club that we want all of NSW to be proud of, and we want our fans to feel part of it from day one.
"The anticipation is continuing to build, and we can't wait to welcome everyone along for what promises to be a very special inaugural season."
The 2027 Super Netball season will commence on Saturday 10 April, with the home-and-away season concluding on Sunday 11 July ahead of the Super Netball Finals Series and the Netball World Cup in Sydney from 25 August to 5 September.
Fans will also have greater access to the competition in 2027 under Netball Australia's new five-year broadcast agreement with Nine Entertainment, with every match available live on Stan Sport and free on 9Now, and a minimum of two matches each week broadcast on the 9Network.
