Mark Bosnich has urged Manchester United fans to boycott games or stage walkouts if they want to give any kind of signal to the club owners they want sweeping changes amid a disastrous 2027 campaign.
Current manager Michael Carrick's days at the helm appear numbered after another humiliating defeat last weekend. The 0-3 loss to Bournemouth leaves United 16th on the Premier League table and just one point off relegation.
Amid calls for the former United captain to be sacked, the 49-year-old has been told he will lead the club for their away trip at Chelsea this weekend.
United's season has been plagued by in-house fighting, players publicly criticising the leadership and consistently woeful performances.
Carrick's side have not registered a win in the league or any other competition since they beat Ipswich Town on August 31.
"It’s Groundhog Day at United," Bosnich said on SEN'S Gloves Off. "Where to now?
"Michael Carrick is a club legend and I feel for him because he will pay for this with his job.
"He deeply cares about this club. After the Como disaster he went to the fans and said sorry to them and put his hand on his heart.
"Clearing out the players needs to happen, but a lot of players will say they will just sit there and pick up their wages.
"They have to do something, they cant just sit there and carry on losing.
"Right here right now, the ownership won’t change.
"If the fans are that upset with the ownership it’s totally understandable but start boycotting the games then or walk out after half an hour. That’s the only thing that will make any difference.
"But when it comes to the football Carrick will lose his job."
Former United legend Wayne Rooney has slammed the playing group saying they "need a firework up their a---s".
"I would love to go in that dressing room and say, 'What the f--- are you all doing? What type of performances do you think this is? Do you think you deserve to wear the shirt?' Put a f------ firework up their a---- because they are not doing anything," Rooney said on the Stick to United podcast.
"We are seeing players who are numb, look like they have got no emotion, look like they don't care. Some of them might care, some good lads who are getting dragged down. It is so frustrating to watch."
If Carrick is sacked, United would be looking for their ninth manager in 10 years.
