"Enormous confidence": Ward locks into Sirens future

The Sydney Sirens are delighted to confirm that Jamaican international, Jodi-Ann Ward, has re-signed with the club for the 2027 Super Netball season.

Ward will continue her journey with the organisation as it transitions from GIANTS Netball to the Sydney Sirens, becoming the fifth player to commit to the club's next chapter.

A fixture in Jamaica's international setup for almost a decade and one the league’s premier defenders, Ward has been a cornerstone of the club's defensive end since arriving at the club ahead of the 2024 season.

Renowned for her ability to read the game, disrupt attacking momentum and win crucial ball, the defender brings a wealth of experience and versatility, with the ability to impact matches across the line.

Ward's re-signing comes after an impressive return to court this season, with the 2026 Commonwealth Games silver medallist making her comeback in round three after overcoming an ACL injury sustained during the 2025 campaign.

As the Sirens continue to shape their inaugural roster, retaining a player of Ward's calibre provides valuable experience and stability at the defensive end of the court.

"I'm really excited to continue my journey with this club and be part of what's next as we become the Sydney Sirens," Ward said.

"When I first arrived in Sydney, I was stepping into a new environment, but the club and the people around it made me feel welcome from day one. Sydney has become a real home away from home and I've built relationships that mean a lot to me.

"The support I've received throughout my time here, particularly during my rehabilitation, is something I'll always be grateful for. It reinforced just how special this group is and how much I wanted to continue being part of it."

Sydney Sirens Head Coach, Nerida Stewart, said Ward's recommitment was an important retention for the club.

"Jodi has had a tremendous impact on our program and we're excited to see her continue that journey with the Sydney Sirens," Stewart said.

"She's a fierce competitor who brings a level of intensity and presence that elevates those around her.

"She's consistently performed against the world's best, has the versatility to seamlessly adapt across the line and that flexibility gives us enormous confidence.

"The determination she showed to return from injury was remarkable, and it's that resilience, combined with her experience and leadership, that makes her such an important part of what we're building as the Sirens."

Ward joins Sophie Dwyer, Molly Jovic, Grace Nweke and Amy Sligar in committing to the Sirens ahead of the 2027 Super Netball season.
